Susan, I assume you have already tried Oldham Archives, who I have always found very helpful. Also, have you got access to late 19th C + 1901 census data? I have account with Ancestry.com & could help if required. |

Hi Susan ,there was a George Wright who ran the Hare & Hounds from 1805-1828,,,,,there was also a William Wright who ran Greaves arms on Yorkshire st in 1817,,,but no Fred is listed,,,,,the dates ive looked at cover, Greaves Arms,1817-1938,,,Hare&Hounds,1760-1934, but i did find a Saul Wright who had the Bath Hotel on Union st in1885-1895,,,but Wright is a common name in Oldham[ common doesnt sound nice does it? but you know what i mean]... |

katy the Oldham Pub Book might be useful. I used to have a copy. It detailed the landlords of most of oldhams pubs back to the 5th century BC. Im sure the Hare and Hounds would have been in the book as it was a famous pub in those days. |

Reply with quote | #7 | Susan. I found the following on Amazon and purchased a copy "Inns and Alehouses of Oldham and Their Licensees, 1714-1992" I believe the author has recently died, he also produced the other book I have, the directory of oldham pubs.
Will let you have a look when I get it. pete __________________ 2009 is the 50th birthday of the Mini |

Susan there may be some interesting info in this new book, but I think you may be looking at a great grandfather rather than a grandfather. __________________ 2009 is the 50th birthday of the Mini |
