Ive got a hewlett packard laptop - the hard drive is knackered though - to give away. Useful for parts and possibly if you have windows xp recovery disks it will run again as I bel;ieve its a corrupted Boot Ini file that causing the problem.

Ive got a new laptop now. The Hewlett packard is about 5 year old. Must collect.

Hi Pete, got your message, but it went off half way through your email addy. Anyway, heres where Im up to with it.

AS you know the laptop crashed some time ago (blue screen of death). Apparently its a curropted bios file. But it had dsabled the cd rom so it wont load windows again or accept a recovery disc.

Anyway I took the the hard drive out because I want a set of holiday pictures I had on the drive, but I cant get into the the hard drive (ive attached it to another machine).

The hard drive is still out of the machine. Do you know much about them, could you get the pictures off the hard drive for me.

Your welcome to the laptop this tuesday if your still want it. But youll have to replace the drive.

Hi paul
Looked at the drive and the motor does not appear to be running. I will return it to you if you want, just let me know and I will pop it in the post.

strange that, mines a hp laptop, and my harddrive is knackered too. the pc guy put it onto xp (it came with vista home premium) and changed the hardrive, and its working enough to tide me over, as i'm not really a down loader, or owt serious.
when i get my new lappy, (when i win euromillions) it deffo wont be one of these
edit- he said the drive was running at twice the normal temp, or summat was

Ive had a couple of HPs and both were poor performers. I had a sony for a few years - brill. Now im onto a Toshiba lappy with Vista. Dual core processor. Good system. Chashes ocassionally, but vsta seems to repair itself sensibly.
